Corinne Unger presented at Mt Coot-tha quarry forum
Royal Society member Corinne Unger presented at a Mt Coot-tha quarry forum hosted on 8 October by Brisbane City Councillor Michael Berkman and Mt Coot-tha Alliance to kick off the conversation on rehabilitation and closure planning. Brisbane City Council does not have a rehab or closure plan for its quarry nor a requirement to set aside funding for such. Queensland’s Department of Environment and Science recently extended their licence without consultation. The meeting was well attended with Uncle Des welcoming us to country. After a series of short presentations there was an opportunity for participants to share their ideas on planning principles, water, land and post-quarry use. A summary report will be prepared and submitted to Brisbane City Council.
